Thanks to the currently in-progress renovation going on in my company's office building, I currently enjoy the privilege of trying my hand at telecommuting.
That's right. This whole week, yours truly has been working from home. Yours truly may enjoy this luxury until the end of April, if she's lucky.
And after doing this for a few days, I've gotta say that working from home is truly a blessing and a curse. The blessing, most slap-you-in-the-face obviously, is that you're at home. You get to sleep in. You roll up to your workplace in your jammies and eat a bowl of cereal while checking your morning jammies. You get to enjoy all the creature comforts of home. You get to spend time with your husband, who works evenings and now can spend time with you in the morning. You have secretaries, and they are two felines. You gain the extra hour-plus that you lose each day from commuting. And, oh, what the heck: you even feel more productive. Yes, I do get more work done when telecommuting, both domestic and professional. Hot diggity dog.
The curse of it all is, well, that this is only a temporary arrangement. Well, that and I have to walk into the kitchen to charge my laptop because my outlets in the living room are occupados. Seriously, though, that's it.
But don't take it from me. The Oatmeal always explains things better than I can.
